GSD with cats

Can a GSD be taught from being a pup to live happily with cats? And left unsupervised confidently. Im persuming that if you teach them to from being very young they should be okay?

Yes GSD's when brought up with cats and other small animals are very good and trustworthy My mother in laws gsd Hughie was brilliant with cats and baby lambs and anything else small

My family have always had GSDs + cats, for me it's much easier putting a puppy with adult cat/s than kittens with adult dogs

Once they establish who's in charge (cats never lose

) they'll be fine

Im sure you will have no problem - Ive 2 gsds & 3 Bengal cats that get along great.
I would just say that its not always advisable to leave cats & dogs alone together....but thats not to say it doesnt work for some people

Pneuma lives with 3 cats. They mostly ignore each other!

Yes, we have a cat too, Jazz and Kee dont even look at her, Sam is very interested but just wants to play, when Pepsie [ the cat ] has had enough she lets him know

my dogs both came into a house with cats . my older gsd is nearly 7 and jasper not yet 2 but they get on great with my cats.

My two have always lived with cats. My rescue cat rules the house and keeps the dogs in their place. I've also brought two rescue dogs into the house and never had any issues. I have two cats

I was always told that bringing a pup into a cat's house is fine, but the other way round can go wrong...

To be honest, Mav spends most of his time standing over Tango and licking his eyes/ ears or nibbling his legs. When it gets too much, Tango bites Maverick's cheeks and hangs off his lips. Mav loves it (fun game). If Tango runs away, Maverick chases. He sometimes plays too rough but at the end of the day, cats can jump out of the way and their reactions are usually much faster than dogs.

the ginger one in pic comes walkies round park with me and dogs . he thinks his a dog . but my two protect him he walks between them. its so funny to see . seeing is believing.
