Snorting- is this normal

Our 7 month old GSD sometimes makes a snorting/ rattling sound, almost like we do when we need to clear our throats. Is this normal in this breed, we have only had him for approx 5 weeks and other than this he has bags of energy, and is in very good condition.

Tedsmum will become famous soon enough
Is it like a backwards sneeze?
If it only happens occasionally I wouldn't worry but Ted did get a nasal infection when he was about that age and he had to have antibiotics to clear it up.
He also had a slight nasal discharge at the time.
It was very minor and went away very quickly so nothing to worry about.
Hope its nothing. x

zetstaff is a name known to allzetstaff is a name known to all
When I first read this I thought it said 'snoring' + would have said it's more than normal it's usual

Mine are SBTs but Tilly often snorts as if she's clearing her throat, Boris never has + Buster never did. Can't remember any of our GSDs doing it but that's not to say they don't, all woofas are different

If I'm ever worried I nip down the vets, they don't usually charge for just having a look x

mackico is on a distinguished road
Archie has a snort most mornings when he gets up. And sometimes when he smells something he really doesn't like.

I wouldn't worry if it's just occasional. If it gets more frequent, though, you might want to speak to the vet.
