A Stroking issue.......

Hi everyone, feel really awfull having to put this but this is a bit upsetting! We have the most gorgeous 6 month old gsd but unfortunately when it comes to stroking her and cuddling etc its a no go, very short winded! She's mouthing big time and if only she knew it was her thats missing out! Kids just want to sit on the rug and stroke and play with her but we cant allow it coz she just mouths everytime and my little boy is only 4 - is there anything we can do??? I'm sick of hearing 'you should have got a labrador, they're very loving'!!!! I WILL prove them wrong!!!

I think you will prove them wrong. Bodie was like this up to around that age, if not 9 months, didnt like a stroke and fuss, slinked away, mouthed etc. Now he's coming up to 2 and he LOVES strokes and cuddles lol. Exactly what your thinking we thought at that age, best to get her used to tickles and strokes when she's totally relaxed and tired, or even when you brush her, she will get used to being handled more

Puppies are mouthy anyway, well most are,so that is part of training. We had our baby girl at 8weeks old, and she was like that, and she would not let you over cuddle her or pick her up at all, hard work when you're trying socialize before their second jabs.We then found that the reason she hated being picked up and riggled, was she had a small hernia in her belly button. When she was speyed she had it repaired, then she was fine, then to big to pick up, little fat tank.May be you baby is just independent.Hope you soon get to cuddle your baby.
