Should i take her out to pet shop?

Hi all,

I have a 12 week old pup and need to get her some bits form my local Pets at Home shop. She cant walk on the floor yet as she's only had her first set of jabs last week so what I'd like advice on is do you think I could take her with me?

They have trolleys there so I could carry her from the car and put her in a trolley to wheel around the shop but is that normal?! I would leave her at home and go alone but I need her there so they can measure her to get the right collar and lead and harness.

What would you do?

tbh i have always carried the dogs around pets at home and anywhere else when they have been going through there jab stage I would not however take them to parks or areas where there are loads of dogs x

She's well heavy!!

Thanks.. There's something I forgot to add! The fact that she's really really heavy as she's a big pup so couldn't carry her more than a few yards!

Yeah, I won't take her put properly yet it's just the pet shop today I'm not sure about xx

I do exactly the same as Gypsygsd as pups need to get as much experience of the outside world as possible.

Trolley

But do you think I could put her in a trolley as she's too heavy to carry? Has anyone else done this or will I look silly? (im a first time dog owner!) x

One thing I have learned over the years looking silly comes with owning a dog you have to not worry on how things look and do whats right for you xx

I have seen large-breed pups in trolley's before so why not? As long as you have something comfortable to cover the base of the trolly (paws may get stuck/caught in metal work) for the pup to sit on then there shouldn't be a problem.

Obviously keep an eye on the pup at all times as you don't want it jumping out of the trolley and don't let other dogs too close to her.

I don't see why not. As already said, you should put something in the bottom of the trolley so her feet don't get caught. After all, she's had her first jabs so she already has some immunity & as long as she doesn't go on the floor or have close contact with other dogs you shouldn't have a problem.

I did it!!!

Thanks for the advice guys, I just got back from the pet shop and I took her all on my own!!

Was funny in the car! She kept trying to lay on my left arm while I was changing gear! Bless!

Anyway, she loved sitting in the trolley and loved all the attention too! I got her a new collar, a lead but harness was out of stock so I just had to buy her 2 new toys instead!! Xx
