Puppy Fluff

This sounds like a daft question, since I have already gone through it all with Mishka.
At what age will Ted shed his silly frizzy puppy fluff and grow a real coat?
Mish is a short haired GSD and she always had a sleek coat, but Ted is a medium coat which is fuzzy and fluffy and we have a huge conker tree in the garden. Lovely summer shade, but this time of the year, it is dropping sticky bud thingies all over, and they get soooo stuck in Teds fur, it is painful having to pull them off (the pain is more mine than his, Bless him he is so tolerant)
OH put a fence up last night, so now they only have a tiny garden to play in untill the buds have gone.

Tedsmum will become famous soon enough
I have just had a look back at my puppy photos to see when my Ted started to get his big boy fur.
It looks like about 5 months old he started to loose his fluffy fur in a line along his backbone. This progressed around his body towards his chest over the next few weeks and it was coming out all over the carpet quite easily.
For a good few weeks he had a fluffy rib cage and a smooth back, he looked like he was wearing a frilly skirt.
My Ted also has a plus coat like yours and the puppy fluff does seem to attract all sorts to stick to it. Nothing I can advise really, just watch out for grass seeds in the summer as they can get stuck into the skin.

Thanks for that, never would have though about the grass seeds. I do groom him each day so I will keep an eye on it.
