sounds silly but...
Chaos is fast appraoching 10 weeks, but weve been advised not to bath him till 10 weeks+
Only thing is, puppies being puppies and all, he rolls in his pee and poop the second before we whip it off the floor or mat he went on.
Hes slowly losing his puppy smell and gaining a 'whiff'
Weve bought some proper 'puppy wash' and shampoo.
just need advice on when we should/could bathe him?!

Link will be 10 weeks on Tuesday/Wednesday and she hasnt been bathed,
most ive done when she stood in her wee/poo was wet some kitchen roll with water and wiped her
Did the same with the boys and I dont think they were bathed for quite some time
Think Troy must have been about 5-6 months old and Kaiser about the same.
I might shower Link towards the end of summer
Do you groom Chaos daily?
This can help shed dirt and smells and obviously dead fur
When they get showered I use neem shampoo

I wouldn't bathe him either, the most I'd do is wash off with kitchen towel too or if you must bathe him then only use water and NOT shampoo

Well, We attempt to groom him, he enjoys it up to a certain point then he decides to get hyper and bite the brush... Little sod.
Because we are training him with mats, we have also covered the carpet with plastic sheeting, if he messes away from the mat it just sits there on the sheets and he'll walk through it, dance through it, roll in it and probably drink it!
We clean his paws and pads with 'puppy wash wipes' or wet tissue but nothing seems to dispell the oncoming odur. I just want to avoid all these 'dog deoderants' lol
I hear that pups have their own natural oils and vitmins within the hair so i dont want to bathe him too early

Firstly get a second brush
Link is a devil to groom
I give her a tripe stick and a brush to gnaw at instead of my hands
Its time consuming but needs must
Link was dry and house trained at 8 weeks and I would suggest ditching the pads and taking him out often, very often otherwise he will take forever to house train JMO I wouldnt use the deodorants they are full of chemicals and mask smells for a (very short time) and yes dogs have natural oils

Oooo I had no idea you weren't supposed to bath them, the day we first met Sam he (and his litter mates) were being bathed by the breeder, and she gave him a bath the day he came home???
I do know that the whole litter had gastroenteritis at 4 weeks so maybe thats why she did it, anyway I have also bathed him once since he came home? He doesn't seem any the worse off for it... He had his first jabs today and the vet said he was in good health.
At the risk of stealing the thread, why shouldn't they be bathed?
Thanks
Sally

Hi Sally
Mine wont get bathed or showered more than 4 times a year it ruins the oils in their coat, the ones that help the coat keep them dry when they swim ect
My boys have only been showered and shampoo'd twice and they are 2 and half
They have great skin and fur

Same for me.... Bonnie was bathed often when she was a pupster BUT only on her underneath as she had irritated skin so it was a medicated shampoo from the vets. Since then she has been bathed once with shampoo, if she is dirty I brush her when she is dry so it comes out easily and when I think she is starting to get wiffy I take her for a swim Her fur is lovely and no skin issues either xxxx

We got Frankie @8 weeks and i bathed her as soon as we got home, as the house where we got her from smelled pretty bad and she brought the smell home with her, i didnt realise you werent suppose to do this, she gets bathed once per week now, and groomed regular, her skin is fine, no sensitivity or anything,
although shes not crazy about it
