not happy

is not happy ....is not happy
i went out the other night for a bbq
and had a phone call saying "lady had got out" it was more like a shout or a scream
not happy not happy
my stepdaughter who is 16 ran after her and found her in the park at the end of the road
lady is in season
male dogs in the park
so when she found her she was doin the biz with a giant schnauzer
she never pulled the other dog off even though she plays rugby. yes they where locked on
lady could be pregnant?
i have spoken to the previous owners and they told me lady had 3pups when she was 1yr old... witch i thought was a bit early lady is now 3yrs old
just the other week i had gone to the vets to see about havin lady done
they said wait for 3mths after her season had stopped....
well i thought i had taken all precautions so she couldnt get out.
i checked the fence when i got back and lady had just ripped at it untill she could get out .
she had pulled it down then she must of jumped over
so off the the vet to test her
i was told that dogs take 2weeks for pups attachment to the mother then a test is done like humans is this true?
im scared but in a way im excited
and in a way i hope she's not as i've never had any experience with this
oh this was not attentional if people think it is
as we're keeping her in. it was driven lady mad always askin to go for a walk
......at my witts end......what to do......

Surely the vet can do something to abort now.

She had pups at 1yr old!!!!!How very irresponsible of her then owners to let that happen,it is dangerous to the dog to have pups so young.
There is every chance that your dog is pregnant so the damage may well have been done.
If she is, i suggest you speak to your vet to see if anything can be done.I am dead against this sort of breeding but aware that accidents can happen.
I would be making damn sure that your garden is dog proofed and that she cannot get out or other dogs get in in the future!!
Hopefully she will be fine and a lesson will be learned that dogs are very determined creatures when the time is right.
If all turns out to be ok, i would be pushing your vet for a spay op as soon as possible and being very careful with her until such a time that this can be done
There are too many unwanted pups in this world as it is,leave the breeding to the professional breeders who do many careful health checks and hip scoring before a mating.

Copied my reply from other post:

"Could the vet not give her an injection so the pups don't form/abort?

If not could you seek a second opinion from another vet?

Some vets would actually spay her now.

It would be far better than ending up with a litter of pups (especially that sort of cross!).

Sometimes bitches in season are as determined as the males to mate and will escape from the most secure garden.

This is why I would rather get bitches spayed asap, especially as you have never intended to breed from her and don't really know what you are doing as regards a pregnant bitch. Giving birth and rearing pups is a lot of work and she will need an awful lot of care in the coming months."

Are there no other vets near to you that could see her earlier than next Wednesday?

Sue

I am not a hundred percent certain but I do think there is some sort of pill to end a pregnancy in dogs, I am also sure if you explained the situation to your vet they would see you earlier OR maybe I am just lucky my vet would drop everything to prevent this sort of thing. Please question your vet and if no joy get a second opinion asap. Really hope everything works out!

There are a couple of things your vet can do as already said.

The most cost effective thing to do would be to spay at the time your vet suggests then you don't risk this happening again
