Hi

As well as the advice given by others regarding socialisation, I would also advise not to push her into anything which she feels uncomfortable with. I have a 15mth old and did everything advised socialisation wise. All was fine until it came to going out on walks - he would walk fine but didn't like to be fussed by strangers and would try to back away and hide behind me. I gave strangers treats etc, but he was having none of it and evnetually began to bark at them. He still doesn't like strangers despite all the socialisation I did with him and puppy classes - he is nervous by nature and this has obviously contributed toward his behaviour, but up until going out on walks we hadn't really noticed this as he appeared to be a confident puppy when we took him out visiting and for rides in car etc etc.

I would just let her do things in her own time if she is hesitant in any way - let her approach a stranger, rather than a stranger approach her until she gets used.

If she is a confident little madam like you say, you will probably have no probs anyway, but just thought I would give you advice if she isn't as confident as you thought.

Thank you! I'm hoping that she actually has been registered as Isla because the breeder is using letter 'i' for this litter. Think that was a sign!

Thank you. You are right, I had assumed that because she is outgoing at the moment she will take things in her stride, but maybe when she hasnt got her littermates to back her up she may not be so confident. I will keep an eye on how she reacts - thank you for your advice! x

LindaM will become famous soon enough
Ooo 'Isla' love the name. I know the list of things to do or things you can do is long but she will be your individual dog and 'she will show you the way/what she can do and what she needs help with' if you 'listen to her'.

You will learn together and there is lots of experienced people here to support you to have a truly wonderful relationship with her.

Look forward to pics and 'her story' as it unfolds - hehe if you have time - she will keep you on your toes
