Remus had bad separation anxiety which is where that thread Stuart found came from. I found saturation leaving sessions helped him overcome the stress of being left.

Saturation is like Stuart says, doing the thing the dog is reacting to a lot, and in a controlled way, so it learns to de-sensitise itself from being reactive to that stimulus.

That's nice, Linda. I think most of us on here would go with that, even those who have had sheps all their lives! They can be hard work but the reward for that is worth much more.

As the saying goes.. 'If it's not a GSD then it's just a dog'

I agree, I think that we are all learning no matter where we are with GSD experience, no two dogs are the same, and very few are easy,..and I wouldnt realy want them to be,... a German Shepherd should have a little fire in its belly

I love my Lukey - it is the finding out and the work that forms the bond - I haven't got a clue compared with so many of you but the 'finding out is a challenge' and I love his spirit. He is also kind and sweet with a sense of humour. We are very fortunate to have him.

Hi All

I did get the idea for saturation leaving sessions from Anni's post - it seemed like a good technique to help with settling Isla.

She is starting to settle down now. I don't want to jinx things but for the past 3 nights - not a peep! I get up to take her to toilet and she goes back to sleep and is quiet as a mouse - yippee!!!!

Daytime sessions are going better, we haven't had a breakthrough yet as we did with the nighttime but I am sure given a bit more time we will crack it.

Overall, much happier these days and beginning to enjoy my puppy!

Well done I'm sure if you persevere it'll all go the way you want. I couldn't agree more about learning I ve always had Jacks and my 2 GSDs are my first but I'm learning about these and other dogs and behaviour and training daily, don't think I could ever be arrogant enough to say I know it all and I'm pretty sure that's the similarity between the people on here we all know there are things we don't know and could learn from each other.
