It is an excitement thing or it can be a submissive thing too. I think you said she is 3 yrs old and I assume she is fairly new to you. Usualln the excited wee thing puppies grow out of by the time they are 18 months old but if you have recently re-homed her then this is most likely what it is. Be patient and very calm with her especially when you greet her. The advice about leaving the lead on to trail (but only when you are in the vicinity) is a good one. Also putting the lead on and off at different times. Just be patient with her.

Hey everyone!
Just an update on this as it seems to be slowly getting better, but boy are we keeping the kitchen towl makers in business!
So it is guaratedd that she will pee when i take her out on the lead in the morning. Our schedule is that I always get up, have a shower, then we go out. Everytime i try to put the lead on her, it results in several puddles (that are always spread around!).
The second time this always happens is when the OH comes home. As he opens the front door, she will pee straightaway, whether she is still in the hallway, or if she has made it past the door to the communal hallway.
Any ideas as for the first morning walk, she knws that is is going to happen, so cant do the element of suprise..as we have a limited amount of time to prepare her for the lead.
I should note, that when we take her out for the evening walk or any other random day walk..no pee :P
Whilst I am here, i would like to see if anyone can give me any info on another issue, and that is other dogs whilst on walks.
When she spots another dog (often from a mile away!) she pulls and pulls, and runs around in circles (i end up looking like i am imitating the nutcracker dance)...and will bark at the other dog (although its a yappy bark..not agressive at all!). We have attempted with some of the more willing members of the public to try and introduce her, but it starts with sniffing (so i praise her), then instantly she will go to nip them. I have never had her offlead with dogs, as im not sure recall is brilliant (esp with any distractions) and so scared of a full dog fight happening in the middle of a major city :/
Any info/tips?
Apart form that, she is settling in well..she has discovered that she can sit on one of our chairs and look out the wondow to bark at dogs passing by, and she trashed a pair of my shoes...which I didn't even like so gave me a good excuse to finally throw them out haha, i was always saying "maybe one day i will be able to walk in them! (ill stick to the Dr. Martens i think, not a high heels person, and evidently Zelda knows that too!)

Bloody Biene wees everywhere all the time when she's excited. Apparently its a common thing in GSD's.
In fact the only way I can get Biene to wee when I take her out on the field is to give her a cuddle. She loves it so much she wees all over my shoes
Nikita, Biene's mom, also wees everywhere, but in a more dominant 'I'm just as hard as the males' territorial way

Zee does a lot of territory wees does that mean she's being dominant then Ash? She barely squats too, and will often wee while walking or sniffing - a multi-tasking Zee-Wee as we call it!

Yeah thats what Nikita does. All of our other females just get out and do one big wee.
She sniffs and wees and walks whilst she wees all over the place. That coupled with the fact that she's very dominant with people and other dogs led to the conclusion that she's doing dominant territorial wees.
She's a bugger.

Interesting. Zee is 'dominant' with people in that she likes a fuss from them - over-friendly, I guess you'd call it. She isn't dominant with other dogs at all, unless she sees 2 dogs fight - then she intervenes and goes for the instigator. If a dog picks on her she won't back down either So I guess she's a buggar!
[sorry for thread hijack]

I am glad that Zelda is getting better with the weeing,...I think it is going to be sorted in time, the fact that it is not happening all the time with every walk is encouraging,.. she may well stop as fast as she started.
The yappy barking and the `nipping` at other dogs is most certainly excitment, many dogs do this, my Sam does it to Kee very often,.. socialisation will solve this, do you go to any training classes,.. one of the biggest advantages of these classes, is not just the basic training, but the meeting of other dogs

I'm a bit hesitant with training classes as there will be a slight language barrier (I'm English, we live in France, OH is German and all commands are in German). But I do volunteer for a local rescue shelter, so will go and talk with the girlies there as Zelda can then run around free with dogs. Just don't want her to panic and think we are taking her back to the shelter!

Yes, that would be just as good, as long as she is able to mix she will learn a lot from other dogs,.. I dont think she will panic, I think you are thinking in human terms, not the way the dog thinks,..dogs live in the present, not the past
I am sure everything will be really good there, for you, Zelda and even the other dogs
