Insurance
I'm currently ploughing through the minefield that is insurance companies as my petplan free month comes to an end in a few days.
Has anybody got any recommendations? My vet recommended that I get a lifetime policy, and it be with petplan but I find them a bit pricey.

I am currently with Virgin and (embarrassingly as I work in the industry) didn't check the lifetime amounts. I made the call to them at lunch time so I could increase the cover only to find out its not something they offer.
I'm now in the same boat as you... I checked Money supermarket for info and have been quoted £19.50 a month for the dog and cat... A girl i work with at work pays a lot more for her Lab...
Any help will be greatly received.
thanks
Jonathan

After going through what seemed like an endless list of companys and different types, with different types of conditions and speaking to friends who have pets, (and I know that this may go against the grain) we decided to open another savings account with our bank and we have set up a standing order for £50 a month. This way, IF (god forbid) anything happened to Cooper we would have money put aside for him.

There is a lot to be said for doing that too.
At the moment we are with E&L for Sam and Jazz, and Sainsbury for Kee

We use PDSA and pay about £29.00 a month for 2 GSD's. I think it was the cheapest when we looked. We are now in our second year with them and they have excellent cover.

Mine's with Sainsbury's. I get £7500 per condition for life for about £14 per month. I've claimed about £4000 over 16 months & they've paid up each time without a murmur!
Had I been putting money aside instead, I'd have had nowhere near enough saved to pay for Dempsey's misfortunes!

We use sainsbury's at the moment but, again i'm seriously thinking about putting money aside once we have more coming in. (i'm a student at the mo so i've only really GOT in income for another year so far!)
I've had to claim twice for my cats recently with Sainsbury's and i've been paid out no problem. Only problem is they pay YOU, not the vet so if you don't have an understanding vet then it can cost you quite a bit up front but both of my claims were dealt with within a fortnight so its not too bad.
I wouldn't go with petplan, they are waaaaay overpriced and play on the fact that they give 4 weeks free and people just automatically extend the policy which is very sneaky indeed!

Links Insured with The Kennel club and is £38 per month (£10,000)
Kaiser and Troy are with Direct Line and is £20 per month (£4,000)
If I was to put Link on the boys Insurance (direct line) it would cost 31 per month! For all 3
If I was to Insure the boys through the kennel club it would cost a whopping £120 per month.
I have looked into the Crufts lifetime Insurance and they seem middle ground at approx £80 per month for all three.
