Neutering costs

Would I be right in thinking that neutering a male GSD would cost me something like £200 - £250?

This will depend on a couple of things,.. first of all I bet if you went to three vets you would get at least two different prices,.. when I had Sam done, it only cost me £80,... and I know that was a good deal

The other thing can be weight,.. some vets will tell you it is,..so much, `depending on weight`

For instance,..to repeat, Sam cost us £80 with no difference in weight,... but another vet here quoted £120 plus so much if over a certain weight

So the answer is to ask around many vets

Yes you can get loads of different quotes, it's important also that you're comfortable with the vet you choose

Wow, that's a good price. I asked a local vets about neutering an ESS few weeks ago and was told between £160 and £180 depending on weight. I assumed a German Shepherd would cost more as it is heavier, so I estimated £200 plus.

Maybe I should check it again AND ask a couple of other vets in the area!

Think I was around £175 for Braeden, that was including some analgesia and antibiotics.

I think I paid around £200 for Lukey to be castrated but he had a retained testicle and it was lodged quite deep in his abdomen, poor boy, so a more complicated and longer op.

Some big differences there. Weight is obviously a big factor. Also, area may be a factor. I'll budget up to £250 to be on the safe side.

I am getting the children to contribute towards to costs af getting a dog so that they appreciate what they cost. We've been selling things on eBay and so far we have got £500 in 'the dog fund'.
