Crate Size

For an 8 week old pup, would you still use an adult size crate? I don't really want to buy a small one and then upgrade to a large one. At least with a large one they would have quite a bit of room ro move around in, and then grow into it. They don't stay small for long do they?

Should I go for the XXL size which is 48"L x 30"W x 32"H?

DelsMum has a spectacular aura about
You can get crate dividers so an extra 'wall' you can put in to restrict bed size if you need to so pup is less likely to toilet in there

Ah, yes, good idea. He might tiddle at one end and sleep at the other.

Thanks

hee hee. sam was in the corner of his adult crate but within 8 weeks he filled it out.. wont take long... i had blanket covering all the floor. didnt want to make a deliberate loo area and unbelievably (and ive never had it before with any other dog) he never once peed in the crate..for the fist 4 or 5 weeks i put him to bed about 12/1 am and i was up again at 6/7..

We too brought our crate off Ebay, two doors, metal floor. We never needed a divider. Xen did have an accident a cple of times in it, but this was down to us leaving him to long, at an early stage. Worked wonders for us, he's now almost 11mths and now has the run of downstairs all night

LindaM will become famous soon enough
I think that's a really good price for a 48" cage which I think is the largest size?? it's the one we have. We put a small moulded basket we had at one end for him (for a few weeks lol). I like the metal trays because Lukey could shift his bedding and cool off on it if he wanted too (he is always hot).

Lots of us now are awaiting your 'new arrival'

We also got ours on Ebay,.. but your price beat mine,.. thats a good deal, its will do the job well.

Find a nice corner for it, cover it over so as to make it den like, they tend to get on with them better that way,...a place to hide away if they want to,.... and use it as another work surface for something
