What does everyone else think?
I have taken my pups out and about from day one of getting them. I was careful about where I took them and did not let them sniff where other dogs had peed. I took them places where there were not a lot of other dogs (like town centre, beach etc.).

I always had other dogs that were going out anyhow and figured they would bring things in on their feet, plus people were coming and going in and out of the house as well. I am sure you get birds and other animals (cats?) coming into your garden?

I did ask the vet about my last pup, I said would it be OK to carry him down onto the wet sand just after the tide had gone out and let him run around - the vet said 'no because a fox may have run over the sand after the tide had gone out' - like I would not have seen the paw prints!!! I think they have to be over cautious in case they end up getting sued.

My last dog never had any vaccinations after the puppy set and he was never ill in any way. I live in a town centre and walked him over docklands and fields (where there are lots of rats!).

Far more dogs are put to sleep with behavioural issues (because of a lack of socialisation) than are killed by disease.

ROXY is on a distinguished road
Everything Sue has said previously I totally agree with especially the last sentence.

When Roxy had her set of jabs the vet said at least 10 to 14 days before taking her out properly.

It was a hard time for me as I saw Roxy was scared of the traffic and all things going by but I also saw her being brave and curious and wanting to go an see what had just gone past, I wanted to encouarge this an not hold her back as it seemed I was protecting her from things she was scared of which I didn`t want her to be.

When we arrived home from the vets and after much thought I took her lead clipped it on and we walked past the end of my driveway and no word of a lie I saw a different dog, she was interested in everything as expected and it amazed me whe she ignored the car that went past because she was too interested in a wheelie bin. When we met other dogs or people if she was scared I would let her go to any distance she wanted and praised when she made steps forward.

I personally believe if I had waited a further two weeks things would have been harder and as I said before I would do it all over again. The second lot of jabs are only boosters so I was confident Roxy would be ok and she was.

Of course it is completely your decision and good luck with what ever you decide to do

Matt
