Epupz?

What do you people think of epupz? I see there are KC registered breeders on there.

I personally wouldn't use them. I'd always prefer to do some research & buy my dog from a recommended breeder.

It's just a place to advertise like pets4homes, some decent breeders some terrible, you have to do your research however you find the breeder and likewise breeders have to filter out decent owners from the highly unsuitable

A lot of very dodgy breeders on there! I contacted a couple and asked them to send me full pedigree names of the dam and sire, plus results of health tests carried out on the parents. Needless to say most never replied, one person replied and said I don't health test my dogs because people don't understand the scores anyway so what is the point! And I had someone reply and said what health tests are they supposed to have!!!! They obviously knew a lot about breeding!! So, be careful!!

So gotta be careful then. Even if I did find a breeder I would report back here to see what everyone thought.

Thankyou for your replies.

If you know what to look for and what NOT to look for, it can be a good resource.... but you could say the same about any site advertising dogs for sale. Use your common sense, ask the right questions and go with your gut!

It takes nothing to register a dog with the KC, its not a badge that assures a good quality dog like a lion mark on an egg.

I would have thought that the best breeders don't NEED to use Epupz, they have waiting lists for their litters already

We found Princess Tilly on there, fantastic breeder, fantastic pedigree, parents fully health tested

You have to be careful, but you have to be careful anyway whoever you approach. Just because they're on that site doesn't make them bad breeders, but there are no doubt a fair number of bad ones on there.

As long as you do your homework, there's nothing wrong with looking + asking.

If that site hadn't been there, we would never have found Tilly

My sister bought her BT from epupz, and also my Mum found hers through them too. They did contact loads of breeders until they found some that they were happy with.

Some breeders sites have links to other breeders - you might find some in your area just by following a few links.

Alternatively, you could look on the Kennel Club webiste - you can do searches by region and set up email alerts for when new litters are registered. But as has been said before, just because they have the KC stamp doesnt neccesarily mean they are decent breeders...

Whereabouts in the country are you? There is bound to be somebody on hear who knows of a good breeder within your area.
