Personally I think your pup needs to get used to a flat collar and lead, if you train from the word go then you may never need a harness.....

Definitely try and use a flat collar and train your pup not to pull. I have a gencon for my big lad, but try not to use it if I can help it. But due to a bad back and shoulder, needs must sometimes! My pup at the moment is doing very well with his heel work, so hopefully this will continue as he gets older!! The dogmatic is also good, but you have to get the size just right which can be a pain!

I used a flat collar and lead when Sheba was a young pup, up until the age of 8/10months but now always use a gencon, as she loves to chase cats and my street is cat heaven!..She does walk well on a normal lead but loves the chase and she is a big girl!
