I will do Stuart. I've got my fingers crossed that the vet missed some thing, It wouldn't be the end of world if he is deaf but i will have to train myself in order to be able train him.

I can only echo everyone else's words. Obviously you are getting him checked out, so let us know what happens when you have. I would also suggest you contact your pup's breeder, if you haven't already done so, to let them know what is going on.

Fingers crossed he isn't deaf. Have you thought of a name yet?

He is back at the vets on friday.

The breeder has been informed. "Mia" the dam is booked in to be spayed it was her first litter and 2 other people also have pups with hearing issues. The sire has fathered 4 litters and none of the pups have had any health problems.

He is now called Sam, i got out voted 2 to 1. I wanted to call him Sid.

Good luck at the vets, let us know how you get on.

Sorry to hear that other pups from the litter are experiencing problems, at least the breeder is spaying her now.

Sam's a lovely name....x

Sorry to hear about the problems with Sam's hearing. It's good to hear that the breeder is doing the responsible thing with having Mia spayed. I hope you get some more news soon.

Sorry i haven't been online to give you an update.

I've changed vets, the one i was using seemed to want to do very little for a lot of money.

We went to the new vets monday the 20th. After a full check over, I was told that he had impacted wax which was causing the loss of hearing.
(The vet said it would be like me walking around with my hands over my ears.)
Sam was given a bottle of ear drops to soften the impacted wax and some antibiotics.

Friday the 24th, The vet put some different drops in and "alot" of yukky looking stuff came out of his ears.

The new vet thinks that the infection started when he was very young.

Now Sam is able to hear, the slightest noise and he has to go and see what it is.

Oh that's excellent news :-)

How frustrating that the first vet didn't pick up on it :-(

Probably too late but have you let the breeder know it was a gunk issue rather than anything else? Sounds like a responsible breeder having her bitch spayed after reports back from pups owners.

Great news, for you and Sam,... for him it must seem very strange if he has been like that most of his life,.. glad you have a good vet, look after him/her, they are not easy to find these days
