Help!

As many of you know i got my puppy on the 27th the problem is I think he is deaf. My oh just thinks he is being stubborn.

I've tried all sorts of things when he is not looking or when he is asleep.
Such as calling him, rattling keys, squeaky toys, banging pans together, clapping my hands and clicking my fingers.

Any suggestions are VERY welcome.

Tedsmum will become famous soon enough
Well you need to get him examined by a vet for start to see if it really is a problem.
There are a couple of explanations, ear infections or very bad wax build up can reduce hearing as well as hereditory conditions.
It is more common in white or mainly white dogs but I see your pup is black and tan.
If it is confirmed that he is deaf then do not despair. There are some amazing ways of still communicating with your dog and if you start young, you will be able to do pretty much anything once he has learnt how to understand you.
But don't panic, go get him checked out and deal with the problem only once you know what the situation is. x

I also think the vet would be able to confirm or not

If he is deaf it will be no hindrence at all he will soon learn to obey your hand signal,.. but if you are not sure, I bet there is a site somewhere that will help you out,... it wouldnt phase me at all to have a deaf dog

Congenital Deafness is not common in the GSD and it is not linked to colour in the GSD, even though it tends to be in other breeds - if you are concerned request a Baer hearing test for the pup

The only problem with that is that very few vets have the equipment.

A quick update, he has been to the vets today. The vet doesn't think he has an ear infection. His ears are not hot, there is no wax or dirt but he does agree there is a problem. Thank you Pam, the closest one is Derby. Transport for that sort of distance could be an issue but not impossible.
