My doggy seems sad
Me and Rob (my boyfriend) have noticed that Hannah seems quite low this week. When we are in the house she keeps going in the kitchen and lying on her bed and not wanting to sit with us. We take her out regularly and she gets energy then and seems fine. We have changed her food this week, been trying some new complete biscuits. And we give her leftover meat like chicken. She doesn't eat her food very quickly, but she never has, and she sometimes doesn't touch it until the next meal time when I urge her to eat it. I don't want to fall into the trap of giving in and letting her dictate what and when she eats. But I don't want her to be feeling low. Is it her food do you think?
I at first thought maybe her sleeping in the kitchen away from us, was her way of letting us know she wasn't insecure about living with us anymore, and doesn't feel the need to always be near us. But it's gone on all week, where we'd be like, "Wheres Hannah?" and we go in the kitchen to find her lying on her bed looking quite depressed.
Don't want that. Anyone had similar issues and got any advice? x x x

Don't forget its been an extended bonfire night due to the 5th being mid week. We've had bl**dy fireworks going off here for over a week.Lucky for us they don't bother Diesel too much, but I've had dogs in the past that have been worried by them.Maybe shes hearing them and they're upsetting her.

The symptoms she is showing and her age are suggesting she is about to have her first season, keep an eye on her back end and look out for her getting moody

Tegan is going through a similar phase, lying by the back door away from us. She has been like this for about a week. We thought because of the fireworks that she was protecting our little 'family' but being 8 1/2 months she too could be coming up for her first season. Moody intermittently but she always has been

So do not want to take the you thinking she is protecting you; she is and always will protect you lol, GSD protecting owners (on the floor laughing)
The age thing for me is suggesting season, it would be a coincidence if it was the fireworks, your dogs would be scared not pissed off and so would "said with attitude" get out off my space ..........god are bitches really that moody , keep a close eye on the dogs in the next 7 days if nothing happens, then I would suggest a phone call to the vet, but its a girl thing imo

Thank you for your advice. I shall be keeping an eye on her behaviour, and the obvious stuff to do with being on season. She seemed a bit perkier today but does seem on and off. Shall keep ya posted.

Tess went like that for about a week but has now perked up again, thank dog!! She is about 8 months and I am dreading going through the first season with her as I have an on going argument with hubby coz I want her neutered and he dont. I am going to leave it up to her coz I've warned hubby that it will then be his job to walk her and after a month of dealing with a moody bitch (other than me!! lol) I hope he will change his mind about neutering!!

ok Biology lesson from GSDowner, think how you felt/feel before period (hope you are a woman..........name suggests you are but I have got it wrong before now)
you feel shit, want to hide in bed all day, nothing that is said to you comforts you.............now go back to your very first period (god I feel embarrassed and old) and how did you feel ! and now think what your dog is thinking...try........she is confused, not sure what is going on, sore, pains (period pains) at least we had a talk a school.........
again keep a watch for 7 days, if nothing speak with the vet, but in the meantime keep watching (so glad I have a dog)
