crate training and whining question

hi everyone ive got a question

Ive been crate training my puppy and shes been doing ok, but she whines when i leave the room and leave her in there.

i don't want to give into her whining because i dont want to lead to separation anxiety problems later.

shes 7 wks and she whines in the night every hour or so and me or my husband get up to take her out to pee.

will us getting her when she whines at night to pee and ignoring her when she whines while i crate her during the day when im out or cleaning confuse her somehow?

just wondering

At just 7 weeks it's no surprise that's she is whining, she's had company (litter mates and mum etc) and now she's on her own! Best bet is to ensure the crate is very warm and comfortable and to create a darker, more den like environment put a cover over most of the crate, I wouldn't cover it completely at this early stage, just enough to darken it a bit more.

You will learn to know when she is moaning for the loo and when she is trying her luck, she won't become 'damaged' by what you are doing, she's just finding her feet in her new home, give her a few days, she'll be fine.

Enjoy

Jo
