Why, have I offended you or something?

As for me my boy he has always been on my right hand side i only hold the leash with one hand or two fingers and he walks perfectly so its up to u really there is no written rule imo.
Thats interesting, because if I am walking one dog which is on my left, the lead is held in my right hand,..if I walk the three dogs they are on my left with the lead in my left hand, either coiled loosly or with the lead ends in my right hand,... but still controled with my left

What Faye said about the military is correct, I did some work in the army with dogs, and thats what we had to do, dog on the left, held in the left hand, pistol in the right.

I think theyre is some confuzzlement ...
I believe many years ago, armed forces and police would walk a dog on the left hand side, this left the right hand/arm free for using a weapon, or baton kind of thing, not normal folk, but then society has adopted this method of walking the dogs on the left.
I usually walk Dalton on the left, but if i walk kane too, i have one each side, and Dalton is great walking either side luckily. Then when alone its back to the left lol

Thats correct Sarah, dog left weapon on the right,... the military are not normally taught to shoot with the left,... when in N Ireland the batton was in your right hand, dog on the left
