Mixing DRY and RAW

I keep reading you shouldn't mix the two. Is that correct? I would have thought that feeding dry assisted by some chicken maybe once or twice a week would add some variety to the dogs menu.

Like wise I didn't know to start this thread in Newbie advice or food, this could be my first verbal warning. Especially after breaking the website the other day

The thing is that the food digests at different speeds, most raw diets will be digested in something like 5 hours, but kibble takes something like 10 - 12 hours to digest, this is why the two are not adviced, it can upset their tums.. I feed raw, but would never top up with kibble

AaaaH, now I I'm confused. I take kibble to be any type of dry food?
Would it be ok to feed a raw meal say, every other day rather than mix the two?
I like the idea of feeding raw, but want to make sure our dog get all the right nutriants that I assume would be in a quality dry food.
As a suggestion, chicken portions including bones with mashed veg, kibble on the days in between.

Kibble to me is a complete diet, and has everything in it that the dog needs, it is down to the owners choice if they feel its the right food,.. personaly I would think kibble by itself would be a bit boring for the dog

The Raw diet, of course gives everything needed especialy if its on the bone, and gives the dog varity.

As for feeding the different foods on alternate days,.. I dont really know, and I am hoping someone with more experience will give their opinion,...but at a guess I would say no, I would go for one of the other,.. and as I feed a raw diet, thats the one I am bound to suggest

lisyonok will become famous soon enough
The breeder my GSD came from feeds all her dogs raw for breakfast and kibble for dinner. As long as there's about 10 hrs apart between different types of meals, it's not likely to cause a problem.

I would never feed Raw and Kibble together or on separate/same days
Idea being that Raw is complete and so is Kibble
