First view of a oil painting of Riley, very much work in progress.
Much still to be done on the dog, so not fair to comment yet I guess, but what about the background, does it work or could you suggest an alternative background?

Personally I think it needs a lighter background, that way the dog stands out more! But it is looking good!

I said that I thought it was ace the way it was, but the dark background does so not show the dark colours on the dog........ not that I was ever any good at art xx but I agree that pic is stunning xx

I like the dark background, personally. It gives it a more dramatic effect and actually makes the dog stand out more.
