Jackson and My Saturday afternoon.
Jackson came on only his 3rd dog transport run.
I've mentioned this before but my friend Neil and I move dogs out of pounds and onto rescues, we do this voluntarily, this is how Jackson found me... Well this saturday we were meant to collect 4 pups of various sizes and ages from Birmingham with drop offs in Woking and Newmarket. As it turned out we only had one to move, he was a GSD x Collie apparantly and only 12/16 weeks old. I'm not entirely sure that breed description was correct but he was a happy lad.
So with my friend Neil driving and Jackson one side the pup in the crate in the boot we set off for Newmarket, we got about 2 minutes into the Journey before the pup decided to escape from my rather cheap (emergency) travel crate. I decided to have him on my lap (knowing he would sleep). I was a little unsure how Jackson would take to me having a pup on my lap but he was amazing. He gave the little fella a sniff and a gentle paw on the head (I think it was a stamp of approval) and then both slept.
When we finished delivering the pup we got home, I left the travel crate by the sofa to come back and find this...

Awww, what a sweet story and gorgeous wee pup. I love how Jackson has taken his ball into the crate - he looks nice and cosy.
Isla just destroyed one of those mesh travel crates at the weekend lol! Little minx!

I had to put the crate away when he was outside... I left it collapsed but leaning against the wall under the stairs, he came back in and started to sniff round for it... when he found it he pawed at it...
I think he prefered it to his own... I might pop that one inside his metal one...

Well done to you and your friend for doing this voluntary work - I bet it really helps the various pounds and rescues.
And what a cute pup. He looks lovely.
Jackson sounds as though he has a lovely sweet temperament, and he clearly likes the "new den"

You could say he has a lovely temperament... with other dogs... people can be scarey for him... I'm working on that though...

Ah nice story and pics, hope that little pup gets a good home. I think Jackson was staking his claim incase the pup was staying and who can blame him.
It is good work you are doing

If anyone is ever doing a long drive and fancies seeing if there is a pup or two to be moved (I would always suggest crates and usually not to have your own dog along to reduce the exposure to Kennel Cough etc...) there is another Forum called Rescue Helpers Unite (link below)....
http://forum.rescuehelpersunite.co.uk/
I don't use it much anymore as I deal directly with Rescues and pounds but was always on there when I started doing transport runs.

Ahh its Jacksons little den
Were you not a little tempted by that pup? I still can't get my head around the fact you had Jackson as rescue - what a catch!
Out of iterest/nosiness why was he being transported? Was he going to another rescue from one in Brum?
Do you know if I had a moment spare every once in a while I would love to help out for a rescue centre but I am too emotional and getting worse. I take Bham dogs home some christmas treats for the dogs and have a little look/fuss/talk to the dogs. I can't do it anymore I get that upset and not just on the day but weeks after if I think about it. I will just drop stuff off at reception in future.
