Sorry linda, he copes very well without his tail, it's a little harder for me to know what we wants or needs without his tail wagging. Have to judge from his ears xxx

Max is a lovely boy, and that is a gorgeous photo of him.

Does he have a good, tiring walk before you leave him? You could think about leaving either a stuffed kong or a raw meaty bone for him to chew on while you are out. Leaving the radio on is a good idea and if you can set your camera up to record longer than half an hour that would give you a good indication of just how much he is barking.

He looks a handsome lad!

Agree with the advice above.

I leave the radio on as well, one of the talk stations seems to work well. Max and Lady are very well versed on the latest sports news!

I also leave a variety of things and try to make it different every time I leave. For example I soak kibble and stuff the kongs, then put them in the freezer overnight. Takes them a while to get through it.

I also have treat dispensers, such as the pyramid type, the ball with the small hole that makes them think and work to get the treats out.

Stagbar antlers also keep them occupied for a while.

Basically if they are chewing and are occupied they can't bark at the same time.

You may also want to look at DAP products?

Hope that helps.

Hello and welcome!

Gorgeous dog you have there, well done for rescuing. X

As for the barking I would just mirror what others have said, big walk before you leave, treats and toys he doesn't get any time other than when you are out help too as they have the 'novelty' factor, we used to do this with our last boy and it worked for him, we would give himehis special toys and smoked bone when we left then put them away as soon as we came home so he was really interested next time they came out again.

Have you thought about rescuing a companion!?!??

Hello, and welcome to the forum,.. Max is a lovely looking lad, look forward to getting to know him.

I often wondered about dogs with no tails,.. as the tail is such a major part of his `talking` when it comes to meeting other dogs,..i.e. a dog will normaly convey friendlness with his tail,.. does he do anything different when meeting others dogs
