A bit worried.....

Bandit isn't well

He was throwing up a couple of days ago, only did it twice but now he has the runs pretty badly and to me, he seems to be shedding an awful lot of fur. He doesn't look BALD, but i'm getting at least a palm full every time i give him a fuss. We had to bath him this morning as he had poo'd all over himself, and i had to clean his back legs off tonight.

He's off his food, drinking ok but a bit quiet for him. I'm worried because of the infection that has come up on Rogue's face we've kinda put down to using bad cat litter...... if this IS an infection will he be able to handle it?

He's at the vet on Wednesday so i'm reluctant to do anything until then, but i'm a bit worried about him!

is the fur thing normal?? i mean, he hasn't been outside in weeks, i'm wondering if he hasn't been able to groom himself properly hence the fur thing, and we've tried to keep his crate clean but i'm blaming the cat litter for the infection. He has two weeks of crate rest left, am i going to have to disinfect every day??

It just seems like he's come through so much and now this??

Can he not go to the vet a day early? Make sure it's not anything to worry about?

Poor poppetts!

Let them relax and take it easy.

Jerry Lee had a spell of throwing up and not eating - I gave him lots of water. Cod liver oil, vitamin c and joint care...

And lots of LOVE AND CUDDLES!!!

They will both be okay soon, just let the vet do his magic and be with them 24/7

The fur lose

Cats lose fur natural through grooming and fur falling off the body when they are moving around, so we don't notice how much they really lose even out of molting season..

So when cats are confined such as bandit has been, and perhaps not able to groom themselves as well, the natural fur lose becomes more apparent..

If he's not showing signs of thinning fur or patchy fur he's probably just losing the normal amount..

As to his infection, he might have picked something up his immune system is going to be lowered by his operation and recovery or it may be that the med's as accumalated a bit upsetting his stomach!

If it's an infection it will be harder for him to get over, but he should get over it as he's over the worst of his operation so a lot fitter so will have more fight in him..

But I would have phone the vet though, either to see if he needs to come in today or perhaps some advise until you get into the vets tomorrow!

I know when I had to cage rest Brian my cat many years ago now after major repair op to her front leg, after the cage rest I then still couldn't allow her out on her own, and had to take her for a walk on lead and harness For a month or two so she didn't jump and down of fences etc..

Hope Bandit feels better real soon.
I would take him to the vets or at least ring, and ask to speak to the vet.
I also would disinfect every day, so he is warm and dry every day. jmo.
If he has got a infection he will feel rotten, best to sort it sooner than later.

Is he drinking o k?

Little sweet heart, hope he is well soon.

hi all!

Bandit is much better today, no more stinky poops and he's back eating again (in fact, you would think he had never been fed!)

thanks J&J for the bit about the fur loss, he's not looking patchy at all so i'm pretty sure your'e right.... but wow, they lose SO much fur don't they?!

i popped in to the vet just to ask and she said just to keep the crate really clean and maybe get a vet bed in there to inhibit bacterial growth. I've been cleaning him out every day but only disinfecting every so often, usually when i washed the bedding every couple of days but i've got wipes from the vet to make sure the crate is cleaner.

Cats are soooo much better off outside, aren't they??!!
