I think she knew then, she asked if we could leave him over night so that they could xray first thing in the morning.

When they took Shade out to go to the toilet next morning he droped down dead.

It had burst inside, he wouldnt have felt any pain, he would just have felt uuuck

Thank you again to everyone for commenting

So sorry to hear about Shade, it is such a shock when you lost them like that, and so young too. RIP lovely lad.

Jude is on a distinguished road
I love border collies too - I have always had one plus either a GSD or a rottweiler. Sadly I lost my last lovely girl last year and have not been able to bring myself to get another but hope to do so in the spring. Your new boy looks super!

Thanks Sammy. Glad you enjoyed the pics. Marilla and Strom are currently on loan with a view to buy to a lovely lady who also lives up here in the hills, as she is an avid horse lover and I just don't seem to have as much time as I once had for riding and all the care they need. It wasn't a decision I came to lightly, as I love them both dearly, but I believe they will be very happy with their new owner and I will still get to see them all the time
Fingers crossed for them both Brilliant you will still get to see them both, which still means we get to see photo's too

Sorry to hear you lost your collie Jude. I lost my special, unique clown of a collie called Moss last January and it broke my heart. He was not yet six years (just two months of his 6th birthday) but he had heart failure. It was terrible. I don't think I will ever have another "personal" collie again. I love the breed though, and I am fortunate in that I can get to play around with my hubby's dogs whenever I need a collie fix

I am really pleased everyone has enjoyed the photos.

Yes, we have always had a herd of Highlands here, Pam. Unfortunately, they are all absolutely crazy! Fine when you are just feeding them but if you try and get them in for anything they are dangerous! They do live very much like wild cattle though, so it isn't really any wonder. They do look lovely though. I love the breed. I keep thinking about getting a Jersey house cow, but not sure I could be bothered with milking twice a day!

Yes Sammy, it is brilliant that I can still get the odd ride and get to see Marilla and Strom. They are both real characters and Linda, the lady who is buying them, absolutely adores them and has far more time for them than I have (she has no dogs or small children! ).

I meant to say that it was absolutely bl**dy freezing last night, but I haven't long been in after taking the dogs for their last walk and it felt a wee bit warmer tonight. I have bedded Zak down in a nest of straw, so hope he will be warm enough!
