Well Jacks been brighter today, he managed to knacker himself diving for the door when someone knocked and has been rather quiet since (its his own fault!) Me being the soft muppet I am broke the habit of a lifetime of owning (or being owned) dogs and invested on a big comfy soft bed telling my hubby he needs it coz he hurts. Daft begga still flops on the floor by my feet!
He took his metacam this morning like a good boy and tucked into his twice weekly treat at supper with amazing gusto but in many ways he is not right.
We had pamper session in bathroom because he was plastered in mud which would not do sore joints any good and acted like a total puppy when it came to drying time!!!
I've told my hubby I will moniter Jack over the next two weeks to see if the metacam is working and pray to god it does because if it doesnt then the vet will want to xray and everything and as Jack has an enlarged heart it makes it riskier.
Its been 11 years since I watched a canine member of my family grow old and even then the boy spared my family the pain of watching as he dissapeared in the night and was never seen again. I am cut up to be watching my nutty boy slow down and creak and crack when he moves.

<<<<hugs>>>> me knows, its so hard, I so hate the down days when George looks so sad............ask your vet about the cartophyn injections honestly they are so good
your boy will know when he needs to rest and take it easy.................and you will know the signs he needs to rest, its so bloody hard I know
*fingers and toes and everything crossed the metacam will work for Jack*

I feel really mean when I take Tess out for her playdates and leave Jack at home. Trouble is if Tess doesnt go out for her dates she annoys jack trying to get him to play and he gets really cross with her.
SOft heart me has just been and fetched Jacked posh new bed from the hall and placed it down by my feet, Jack is now curled up on it watching Lord of the rings for the hundreth time lol. Tess is happily crunching a bone in the hall so we have peace!!!

I'm pretty sure the sly begga is milking this!! He refused to take his metacam until I put some gravy on it!!! He is still quiet and narky with Tess.
He did get annoyed with my son who was too close to his bowl but unfortunatly Jack is prone to food aggression. If someone hadnt knocked on the door my son wouldnt of been anywhere near him.

Left him with the sitter while I went to work and when I came home he is brighter so hopefully he is perking up. No one can get him in the back garden to have a wee (not like him) but hes been trotting around the house like a pup so maybe we are feeling a touch better. We shall watch and see.....

I gotta say that Metacam is magic stuff!! The little begga cleared a five foot wall today!!!! It was only friday I thought I really was gonna lose him, he was so not himself, didnt even wag his tail when I said goodnight. Just lay in bed looking like he was in immense pain and so so old.
The only thing that concerns me now is he keeps having 'snorting fits'. Its like he is going to throw up but through his nose!?! Its hard to describe but if it sounds familiar to anyone can you clue me in on what it could be please!! His nose is quite dry but he is eating and drinking and being the athletic plank he is but keeps having these silly snorty moments but as soon as he goes outside they stop, its bliddy wierd!!!
