Jackie Ballard (Director General of RSPCA)
Doubtless you are all aware that is leaving Jackie Ballard (Director General of RSPCA this disgraceful organisation to work as CEO of the RNID, taking up her post in September.
SO THIS LADY IS NOW FOR TURNING
Whilst working for an animal welfare charity she loudly professed her love of animals and, according to press releases, vigorously campaigned against vivisection. How two faced is she to now join a charity that relies on animal testing. Section of letter from RNID as follows:
Jackie Ballard has a wealth of experience both in the political arena and in the public and voluntary sectors which RNID believes will help us to further improve and develop our work to change the world for deaf and hard of hearing people in today’s competitive environment .
RNID is committed to supporting research that could lead to the prevention of hearing loss, restoration of hearing and alleviation of tinnitus. We support the position held by the Association of Medical Research Charities in that we acknowledge that experiments on living animals are sometimes an essential part of research to improve the understanding and treatment of human and animal disease.
We only fund research that involves live animals if there is no alternative means, and if the research is novel and of high scientific merit with realistic expectations of benefit for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or have tinnitus. In addition to requiring researchers to comply with the law, we require that all experiments are carried out with due concern for the welfare of the animals, using the minimum number necessary to provide clear results.
I hope this goes some way to alleviate your concerns, and that you stay on with us as a valued member.
Kind regards
Jon Kudlick
