GSDOWNER will become famous soon enough
The story of the RSPCA inspector in Coventry.

The story of the RSPCA inspector in Coventry.

Two years ago (approx) I had cause for concern about a lady, Yvonne Ell, 51 Charminster Drive, Styvechale, Coventry. She had purchased 2 GSD puppies, she already had an older one which when the pups arrived was given away!. All was hunky dory at first with these pups but as they grew the novelty wore off. The dogs were then shut in the garden. They chewed through fencing and were generally causing a nuisance (in her opinion). They barked and howled incessantly for hours on end. Reports were made to the local council (not by me) about the noise. Yvonne then decided to keep them shut in a outdoor store house, no bigger than a shed but brick built. Still the dogs barked so in her ultimate wisdom she then purchased fabric muzzles for them to wear. Her children were out at school and she ran her own pup so the pups were left like this for many hours of the day.

I reported her 3 times to the RSPCA, nothing was done to my knowledge at this time. Her mother lives opposite me and asked if I knew anyone who would take on the 2 dogs as Yvonne was moving, she had her pub taken off her and her house was being repossessed. I advised her to try the local riding stables as Jim the owner was a friend and his wife had a passion for GSD’s. When speaking to Jim I found out that they had indeed taken the dogs there but Jim could only take one. Yvonne had left with both dogs.

A few days later Yvonne did a moonlight flit to Devon. I asked her mother what had happened to the dogs, her reply was that they had been re-homed. I thought nothing more of it until a few days later I had a call from the RSPCA inspector asking if he could visit me regarding the said dogs. He would not give me any information other than that. I reluctantly agreed. He visited and advised me that the two dogs had been found and did I know where Yvonne was. They had traced them from their micro-chip. I asked if they were well and he advised that he could not say. He also told me he had been to visit the house 3 times but was not allowed access by the daughter. I finally got it out that the dogs were dead and had been found. I gave a statement to him about the way the dogs were kept. He then advised me that the dogs were murdered and did I think that Yvonne was capable of doing so. I advised that in my opinion she was as she apparently at this stage was suffering depression, she also had a lowlife character of a boyfriend that she had finished with a month or so before she left.

Rumour by this stage was rife and I learnt that she had told her cleaner that she had left the dogs for 48hrs whilst she moved her stuff to Devon, when she arrived back she found them with their head caved in with a hammer, she panicked and buried the bodies.

The next I knew was when the programme was on the TV and it showed the dogs with head wounds, they had not been buried just dumped. At the end of the programme it transpired they had died from slug pellet poisoning. I have heard nothing from the inspector since the day of the statement.

I have spoken to my vet who also had her dogs on his list about this, he advised me that the dogs had been treated before for slug pellet poisoning and she was advised of the grave danger of these!

I am disgusted that she wasn’t prosecuted. Her mother said that it was the boyfriend that did the hammer attack to get back at her, I do not believe this for one instant. In my opinion she killed them as she had hit hard times and couldn’t find a home for them. She should have been prosecuted for the illegal disposal of their bodies and all said and done if ‘someone’ had done this to your dogs you wouldn’t dump them, your automatic reaction would be to phone the police
