At last one Kennel Club with sense

Lets hope the UK KC follow this and see some sense

' That as from 1st July 2007 German Shepherd Dogs, Rottweilers, Golden Retrievers, Australian Shepherds and Labrador Retrievers will be eligible to have registered progeny if their hip score is below the recommended score.'

The same is for elbows the sire/dam will have to have less than 5mm for progeny to be registered.
The rationale is due to the inheritability factor of hip and elbow dysplasia and the impact on the outcome of progeny in hip and elbow dysplasia.
Australian National Kennel Club

Just an update more good news; in Australia for breed surveys a dog must be elbow scored, it now looks like the SV are trying to catch up with them,
'dogs born after 1/1/2004 and presented for the Korung after 1/1/2008 would have to have elbows in addition to the other current requirements.'
