Trick - Commando Crawl

[Wooferhound]

1) Ask your dog to lie ‘Down’.

2) Take a tasty treat to the nose and gradually pull the treat away from your dog, keeping his nose on the treat as much as possible.

3) The second your dog responds and moves forward on a crawl praise with ‘Good Crawl’ and reward with the treat you were using as a lure.

4) If your dog has moved out of the ‘Down’ position, place them back into the ‘Down’ and start again, but this time try to increase the amount of ‘Crawling’ he can do.

* If your dog is too keen and keeps breaking the ‘Down’ to get to the food, go right back to square one and praise the ‘Crawl’ on every SINGLE crawl they achieve and build up from there.

* Try this on all surfaces, some dogs are happy to ‘Crawl’ on carpet, but not on tiles for example, the more places they do this the better!

* As with everything we do with our dogs it is very important to offer praise for even the smallest of commands, so praise everything, you can’t go wrong then!

Tried it with Barney, and he just kept getting up to get the treat
